RMHA’s 5K Run/Walk 2012

Riverdale Mental Health Association
3rd Annual Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies
5K Run/Walk

Sunday, March 11, 2012
9:00 a.m. registration begins, 11:00 a.m. run/walk starts
Stadium, Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx, NY

Be there at the starting line when ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap kicks off RMHA’s third annual Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies 5K Run/Walk to raise funds and awareness for mental health and well-being in our community.

Join us on Sunday, March 11 in scenic Van Cortlandt Park in the Northwest Bronx. The course will follow the trail system in the park, beginning and ending in the Stadium, which is located in the Southwest corner of the park just east of Broadway and West 242nd Street. The IRT #1 train’s last stop at Broadway and 242nd Street is just a stone’s throw from the stadium. There will be commemorative t-shirts and snacks available for all, and awards will be given to the top finishers in each category, and to the individuals and teams who raise the most through sponsors’ pledges. The event will take place rain or shine!

Acclaimed broadcaster and author Jeremy Schaap has won six national sports Emmy Awards for his work at ESPN, including the Dick Schaap Writing Award named for his late father. Schaap, an ESPN and ABC News TV correspondent, hosts ESPN Radio’s “The Sporting Life,” airing in New York weekly on WEPN 1050-AM, and wrote N.Y. Times bestseller Cinderella Man, on heavyweight champion James J. Braddock, and Triumph: The Untold Story of Jesse Owens and Hitler’s Olympics.
